Taco Bell Reintroduces Classic Menu Items From Across The Decades

Taco Bell has long been known for its ever-changing menu, often saying goodbye to beloved items that fans can’t get enough of. From the 7-Layer Burrito to the Double Decker Taco, many favorites have come and gone over the years. Recognizing how much these discontinued items are missed, Taco Bell has occasionally teased their return. For instance, the Mexican Pizza made a comeback in 2022, just two years after its departure.

But now, Taco Bell is taking nostalgia to the next level. The chain is preparing to re-release a range of classic menu items from past decades, starting with a special promotion in select locations.

A Taste Of The Past

Starting August 15, Taco Bell will bring back five fan-favorite items, each representing a different decade of the chain’s history. The promotion will first appear at three California locations:

  • Fullerton on Orangethorpe Avenue (August 15-19)
  • Brea on Imperial Highway (August 15-21)
  • Irvine on Barranca Parkway (August 15-21)

The items will only be available while supplies last, but Taco Bell has hinted that a nationwide release could follow later this year.

  • Tostada (1960s): One of Taco Bell’s original offerings, the Tostada features refried beans, red sauce, lettuce, and cheese. Priced at $2.19, it’s a tasty trip back to the early days of Taco Bell.
  • Green Burrito (1970s): For $2.49, this burrito brings together a bean and cheese filling with onions and a tangy green salsa made from green chili, tomatillos, and jalapeños.
  • Meximelt (1980s): A fan favorite until 2019, the Meximelt is a folded flour tortilla filled with ground beef, pico de gallo, and a blend of mozzarella, cheddar, and Monterey jack cheese. It’s priced at $2.99.
  • Beef Gordita Supreme (1990s): Another $2.99 item, this comes with seasoned beef, lettuce, diced tomatoes, reduced-fat sour cream, and the three-cheese blend, all wrapped in a flatbread.
  • Caramel Apple Empanada (2000s): For those with a sweet tooth, the Caramel Apple Empanada features a crispy exterior and a warm apple and caramel filling, also priced at $2.99.
